Varied Tit

The Varied Tit, scientifically classified as Sittiparus varius, is an indigenous passerine bird primarily found in the forests of East Asia, including Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and parts of China. Historically, these birds have been deeply integrated into the cultural fabric of Japan, where they were famously trained to perform tricks, such as pulling fortunes from wooden boxes at shrines, a practice dating back to the Edo period.
