Verreaux's Eagle-Owl

Verreaux's Eagle-Owl, known scientifically as Ketupa lactea, is the largest owl species native to sub-Saharan Africa. Recognized by its distinctive pink eyelids and prominent ear tufts, this species occupies a significant place in ornithological taxonomy as a powerful predator of the savanna and woodland regions. It was first formally described by Coenraad Jacob Temminck in 1820, following explorations of the natural history of the African continent during the early nineteenth century.
