Western Red-legged Thrush

The Western Red-legged Thrush, Turdus plumbeus, is a distinct member of the thrush family primarily found in the Caribbean, specifically across Cuba and parts of the Bahamas. First described by Linnaeus in 1758, the species reflects the complex biogeography of the West Indies. It evolved within the dense, tropical forest environments of its native range, developing physical traits—such as its rounded wings and tail—that support short, agile flights through thick understory foliage.
