White-bearded Greenbul

The White-bearded Greenbul, scientifically classified as Criniger ndussumensis, is a passerine bird belonging to the family Pycnonotidae. It is native to the lowland forests of Central and West Africa, particularly within the Congo Basin. Like many members of the genus Criniger, it was identified by naturalists in the late 19th or early 20th century during the period of intense ornithological exploration in the African interior, where its presence was documented within dense, humid evergreen forests.

The bird's design—characterized by its rounded wings and rounded tail—is an evolutionary adaptation suited to its specific niche in the forest understory. These features facilitate maneuverability through dense vegetation rather than sustained long-distance flight.
