White-bellied Woodstar

The White-bellied Woodstar, scientifically classified as Chaetocercus mulsant, is a species of hummingbird native to the humid forests of the Andes. Its formal description was established by Jules Bourcier in 1842, who named the species in honor of the French naturalist Martial Étienne Mulsant. As a member of the Woodstar group, its biological design is defined by an evolutionary focus on specialized nectar feeding, resulting in its distinctively pointed wings and a deeply forked tail that aids in high-precision aerial maneuvering.
