White-striped Woodcreeper

The White-striped Woodcreeper, known scientifically as Lepidocolaptes leucogaster, is a passerine bird endemic to the mountain forests of western Mexico. It was first formally described by William John Swainson in 1827, emerging from the era of 19th-century naturalists who sought to classify the vast biological diversity of the Americas. As a member of the Dendrocolaptinae subfamily, its existence is intrinsically linked to the temperate pine-oak forests that characterize the Sierra Madre Occidental, where it has evolved to occupy a specific niche within the high-altitude ecosystem.
