White-vented Euphonia

The White-vented Euphonia, scientifically classified as Euphonia minuta, is a small passerine bird native to the Neotropical realm, ranging from southern Mexico through Central America and into parts of South America. It belongs to the Fringillidae family, which includes finches and euphonias, and was first formally described by German naturalist Jean Cabanis in 1849. Its existence is tied to the humid lowland forests and forest edges where it primarily feeds on mistletoe berries, a characteristic diet that dictates its distribution and movement within tropical ecosystems.

Physically, the species is defined by its distinct morphological features, including its rounded wings and a slightly notched tail, which facilitate agile flight through dense canopy foliage.
