Jeu de la drogue

Jeu de la drogue emerged during the late 1970s and early 1980s, a period marked by shifting cultural attitudes toward substance use and the increasing visibility of the drug trade in European social discourse. Designed as a moralistic or educational simulation, the game sought to mirror the perceived risks and societal consequences of illicit drug involvement, functioning as a cautionary tool rather than a standard entertainment piece. Its creation reflects the era's attempt to use board games as vehicles for didactic messaging regarding public health and social order.

The game is characterized by a stark, functional aesthetic typical of tabletop productions from this era, likely aimed at parents or youth workers looking to facilitate difficult conversations. While the identity of its specific graphic designer remains largely uncredited in the broader gaming canon, the game's design focus was clearly on narrative path-taking and consequence-based gameplay. It was received as a polarizing curiosity, often noted by contemporary collectors for its heavy-handed tone and the peculiar historical artifact it remains regarding institutional reactions to the drug crisis.
