Risk Legacy

Risk Legacy was published by Hasbro in 2011, marking a significant shift in board game design as one of the first titles to introduce the legacy format. Developed by Rob Daviau and Chris Leder, the game challenged traditional board gaming conventions by requiring players to physically alter the components, including placing permanent stickers on the board and tearing up cards. This design philosophy centered on the idea that every decision made during a campaign would have lasting, irreversible consequences for future sessions, effectively creating a personalized narrative history for each individual copy.

The game emerged from a desire to move beyond the static, repeatable nature of classic tabletop games like the original 1957 Risk.
