Where it came from
An Igorot's Journey was published in 2007 by Wheatmark, a self-publishing house based in Arizona. Written by Rosita Pinkerton, the work serves as a personal narrative reflecting on the cultural heritage and traditional lifestyle of the Igorot people of the Philippines. It was authored to document the author's lived experiences and ancestral history, providing an intimate window into a region often defined by colonial perspectives.
The book functions as an autobiographical record intended to preserve the customs and values of the Igorot community for future generations. As a self-published title, it lacks the extensive critical reception typical of mainstream industry releases, yet it remains a significant example of diaspora literature. It captures the transition between traditional Highland life and the complexities of modern identity, framed through the author’s distinct personal journey.
