An interview with Dennis Potter

Published in 1994, this slim volume functions as a transcript of the final, highly publicized interview conducted with British television dramatist Dennis Potter. Recorded shortly before his death by Melvyn Bragg for Channel 4, the discussion captures Potter at his most candid, reflecting on his prolific career, his battle with terminal cancer, and his enduring preoccupation with the nature of human suffering and the illusions of the screen.

The book serves as a vital historical document for scholars of television history, preserving the raw, unfiltered voice of a writer who fundamentally reshaped the landscape of British drama. Produced as a direct companion to the broadcasted interview, the design is deliberately utilitarian and stark, emphasizing the weight of Potter's words over aesthetic flourish. Its release was met with somber critical reception, recognized immediately as a poignant closing chapter to one of the medium's most influential and controversial legacies.
