Andreas Feininger (Fotografie Portfolio)

Published in 2007 as part of the Stern Portfolio series, this volume celebrates the influential career of Andreas Feininger, a photographer best known for his precise, structural approach to urban landscapes and natural forms. The Stern Portfolio collections were curated to showcase the work of legendary photojournalists and artistic photographers who contributed to the long-standing legacy of the magazine, presenting their most iconic images in a refined, large-format layout that emphasizes the graphic quality of the compositions.

The design of the collection leans into the minimalist aesthetic favored by Feininger himself, utilizing high-contrast printing to highlight the textures of his architectural studies and industrial imagery. By focusing on his transition from New York’s mid-century skyscrapers to his later, more abstract investigations of nature, the book serves as both a retrospective of his technical mastery and a documentation of his evolution as a visual chronicler of the twentieth century.
