Arturo Uslar Pietri

This volume is part of the Semana de Autor series, an editorial initiative established by the Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana in Madrid. Launched during the 1980s, the series sought to promote cultural exchange and intellectual dialogue by dedicating individual publications to prominent figures in Ibero-American literature. This specific entry honors the Venezuelan intellectual Arturo Uslar Pietri, a central figure in the development of 20th-century Latin American letters, known for his work in journalism, politics, and the historical novel.

The content within this collection was designed to provide a comprehensive academic overview of Uslar Pietri’s oeuvre, including thematic essays and critical analyses of his contributions to the Spanish-speaking literary canon. Edited under the auspices of the Ediciones Cultura Hispánica, the work reflects the institutional commitment of the era to bridge the gap between Spanish academic centers and Latin American writers. It remains a scholarly reference point for those examining the intersection of Venezuelan national identity and the broader modernist literary movement.
