Where it came from
Part of the 'Contemporary Architects' series published by Editorial Gustavo Gili in collaboration with Watson-Guptill, this volume highlights the early to mid-career works of Houston-based architect Carlos Jimenez. Published in 1992, the book emerged during a period when the series sought to document the rising influence of regionalist and modernist voices in global architecture, capturing Jimenez's minimalist approach to form and light.
The monograph was edited and framed through the scholarly lens of Aldo Rossi, who provided a foundational essay on Jimenez's practice. The design emphasizes a clean, academic layout intended to showcase photography of projects such as the Houston Fine Art Press, reflecting the editorial intent to position Jimenez within the rigorous traditions of contemporary architectural theory rather than fleeting stylistic trends.
