Critical Theory and the Challenge of Praxis

Critical Theory and the Challenge of Praxis was published in 2015 as part of the Ashgate New Critical Thinking in Philosophy series. Stefano Giacchetti Ludovisi wrote this work to re-examine the historical trajectory of the Frankfurt School, specifically focusing on the dialectical tension between critical social theory and political action. The book serves as an academic bridge, connecting the foundational ideas of early theorists like Adorno and Horkheimer with contemporary concerns regarding globalization, media, and social movements.

The design and editorial direction of the volume reflect the scholarly standards of Taylor & Francis, emphasizing clarity and accessibility for an audience of academics and political philosophers. By situating praxis at the center of his analysis, Ludovisi intended to challenge the perceived passivity of late-modern intellectualism. Upon its release, the text was noted for its rigorous synthesis of diverse philosophical threads, contributing to a broader discourse on how critical theory might remain a potent tool for social transformation in the twenty-first century.
