Damn the Asteroids, Full Speed Ahead!

Damn the Asteroids, Full Speed Ahead! is a science fiction novel penned by Tom Jolly, a prolific author and game designer best known for his contributions to the tabletop hobby space, including the development of well-regarded board games like Wiz-War. Published in 2019, the work reflects Jolly’s long-standing fascination with space exploration and the technical challenges of speculative aerospace, channeling a style that balances high-stakes adventure with the logical problem-solving characteristic of his ludic design career.

The book serves as a vehicle for Jolly to explore the narrative possibilities of deep-space navigation, moving away from his usual tabletop format to engage in prose-based world-building. While it was independently published, the text remains grounded in the author's specific aesthetic of utilitarian space opera. It is regarded by his niche audience as a direct extension of the creative sensibilities found in his wider body of work, prioritizing functional scientific imagination over traditional literary tropes.
