Das Erbe der Schlacht vom 14. Oktober 1806 bei Jena und Auerstedt

Published in 1991, this work by Klaus-Peter Lange serves as a historical analysis of the legacy left by the dual engagements of the Battle of Jena-Auerstedt. The book emerged in the context of post-reunification Germany, a period marked by renewed academic and public interest in re-evaluating the regional history of Jena. It acts as an examination of how the decisive Napoleonic victory shaped the military, political, and social memory of the area throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The publication was issued under the imprint of Academica & Studentica Jenensia, a house focused on documenting the unique intellectual and historical fabric of Jena. Lange’s research sought to synthesize local historiography with the broader implications of the Prussian collapse. By focusing on the 'heritage' of the battle, the text aimed to provide a grounded look at how historical events resonate within local consciousness long after the tactical maneuvers have concluded.
