Die gotischen Wandmalereien in der Kaiser-pfalz zu Forchheim

Published in 1912 by the Verlag der Königlich Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, this scholarly work by Hugo Kehrer focuses on the medieval frescoes found within the Kaiserpfalz in Forchheim, Germany. The monograph emerged from a period of intense interest in German art history and the preservation of regional architectural heritage, aiming to provide a rigorous academic analysis of the site's decorative cycles, which date back to the late Middle Ages.

Hugo Kehrer, a noted art historian of the early 20th century, utilized this publication to situate the Forchheim murals within the broader evolution of Gothic painting. The text was intended primarily for a specialist audience, serving as a formal documentation of the palace's artistic significance and contributing to the historiography of Bavarian monumental art. It remains a foundational reference for researchers studying the intersection of medieval secular architecture and ecclesiastical influence.
