Emlyn's Moon (Nimmo, Jenny. Magician Trilogy)

Emlyn's Moon was published in 1987 as the second installment in Jenny Nimmo's celebrated Magician Trilogy. Following the successful introduction of the Welsh landscape and magical realism established in The Snow Spider, Nimmo continued to weave elements of Celtic folklore into the lives of young protagonists. The book was crafted during a period of rising interest in British children's fantasy, aiming to ground mystical occurrences within the emotional complexities of family dynamics and regional heritage.

The design and narrative tone of the series were influenced by Nimmo's background in television production, specifically her time writing for the BBC. By focusing on the interplay between the mundane world of rural Wales and the ethereal influence of ancient magic, the trilogy earned critical acclaim for its evocative atmosphere. It is widely regarded as a significant contribution to late-20th-century children's literature, consistently praised for its understated prose and carefully realized sense of place.
