Gesetz - Ironie. Festschrift f ur Manfred Schneider

Gesetz - Ironie. Festschrift für Manfred Schneider was published in 2004 as an academic tribute to the German media theorist and literary scholar Manfred Schneider. A Festschrift is a long-standing tradition in German academia, consisting of a collection of scholarly essays written by colleagues, students, and peers to honor a professor upon a significant milestone, such as a retirement or a birthday. This volume specifically engages with Schneider's intellectual contributions to the fields of media studies, aesthetics, and cultural theory.

The book was edited by Rüdiger Campe, a prominent scholar in the field of literature and media history who was closely associated with Schneider's academic circle. Published by Synchron Wissenschaftsverlag der Autoren, the work reflects the rigorous interdisciplinary approach that characterized Schneider’s career at the Ruhr University Bochum. The essays within analyze the tension between normative frameworks and aesthetic playfulness, mirroring the intellectual themes Schneider explored in his own prolific research on media and societal structures.
