Giovanni Battista Quadrone

Published in 2002 by AdArte, this monograph serves as a definitive scholarly examination of the life and work of Giovanni Battista Quadrone, a prominent 19th-century Italian painter celebrated for his meticulous genre scenes and hunting subjects. The volume was produced to consolidate the artist's legacy, providing a comprehensive visual record of his output during the Piedmontese realist movement, a period defined by a transition toward detailed naturalism and bourgeois themes in Northern Italy.

The text was authored by Giuseppe Luigi Marini, a respected expert in 19th-century Italian art, who sought to contextualize Quadrone's technical precision within the broader European art scene. The design and curation of the book focus on high-quality plate reproductions of Quadrone's intricate canvases, aiming to capture the subtle textures and lighting characteristic of his style. Upon its release, the book was received primarily by academic circles and institutional archives as a vital reference tool for studying the evolution of post-Risorgimento Italian painting.
