Idee Europa: Entw urfe zum "Ewigen Frieden"; Ordnungen und Utopien f ur die Gestaltung Europas von der pax romana zur Europ aischen Union. Ausstellung des Deutschen Historischen Museums, Berlin

Published in 2003 to accompany a major exhibition at the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin, this volume explores the intellectual history of European unification. Marie-Louise von Plessen curated the exhibition, which traced the concept of a peaceful, united Europe from the Pax Romana through the various utopian visions of the Enlightenment up to the contemporary European Union.

The book functions as both a scholarly catalog and an analysis of how philosophers, politicians, and artists have imagined a cohesive continent over two millennia. By examining the shifting definitions of order and peace, von Plessen provides a visual and historical context for the political integration efforts of the late twentieth century, reflecting the museum's commitment to documenting the evolution of German and European identity.
