Jacqui Hallum - Workings and Showings

Published in 2021 by Anomie Publishing, Workings and Showings serves as the definitive monograph for British artist Jacqui Hallum. The book was produced to document Hallum’s distinct approach to painting, which often involves using stained, bleached, and manipulated fabrics that challenge traditional canvas boundaries. It provides an essential survey of her practice, bridging the gap between her studio processes and her exhibition history, capturing the tactile and ethereal nature of her large-scale works.

The publication offers critical insight into Hallum’s aesthetic, which frequently draws upon historical references, personal symbolism, and the interplay between light and shadow. Designed to reflect the artist’s interest in layering and depth, the book layout serves as an extension of her visual language. Upon its release, the monograph was well-received within the contemporary art community for providing necessary context to her complex, layered compositions and for highlighting her contributions to modern painting discourse.
