Jens Jensen

Published in 1992 by The Johns Hopkins University Press, this biography examines the life and work of Jens Jensen, a pivotal figure in American landscape architecture. Robert E. Grese, a professor and scholar in the field, provides a scholarly exploration of Jensen's design philosophy, which centered on the use of native plants and the preservation of the Midwestern prairie landscape. The book serves as a vital historical document that contextualizes Jensen's influence on the Prairie School movement and his advocacy for conservation.

The design of the book aligns with the academic rigor expected of a university press release, prioritizing clarity and archival integrity. Grese aimed to bridge the gap between architectural history and ecological awareness, highlighting how Jensen's parks and residential commissions reflected his deep connection to the regional environment. Upon its release, the volume was well-received by landscape historians and urban planners, who valued the comprehensive documentation of Jensen's career and his enduring legacy in sustainable design.
