Journal of Major Robert Rogers

The Journal of Major Robert Rogers was originally published in 1765, serving as a primary firsthand account of the military campaigns led by Rogers during the French and Indian War. It provides a detailed record of the tactical movements and daily hardships faced by Rogers' Rangers, an elite unit whose specialized reconnaissance and unconventional warfare techniques became foundational to modern military scout doctrine.

This 2018 edition by Franklin Classics is a modern reproduction intended to preserve the historical text for contemporary researchers and history enthusiasts. The design is utilitarian, prioritizing accessibility to the original eighteenth-century narrative, which was originally received by contemporaries as both a candid memoir of colonial frontier combat and an essential document for understanding the geopolitical maneuvering of the era.
