Karl Barth und Isaak August Dorner

Published in 2014 by Peter Lang, this scholarly work originated as a doctoral thesis by Sang Eun Lee. The text provides a rigorous comparative analysis between the 20th-century Swiss theologian Karl Barth and the 19th-century German theologian Isaak August Dorner. It situates itself within the tradition of academic historical theology, aiming to clarify the developmental threads between Barth's dialectical theology and Dorner's earlier efforts to synthesize faith and reason.

The design of the volume adheres to the standardized academic presentation typical of the Peter Lang Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften series. By focusing on the intellectual dialogue between two giants of Protestant systematic theology, Lee attempts to bridge a critical historiographical gap, examining how Barth’s critique of the 19th-century tradition was informed by his engagement with Dorner’s specific Christological framework. The work is regarded by peers in theological studies as a specialized resource for understanding the nuances of modern Lutheran and Reformed dogmatics.
