Leonardo's brain

Leonardo's Brain was written by surgeon and author Leonard Shlain, who sought to synthesize the insights of art history with the complexities of neuroscience. Published in its original print format in 2014, the work examines the life and creative process of Leonardo da Vinci through the lens of brain lateralization, arguing that the artist's unique genius stemmed from a rare integration of his left and right hemispheres.

The Brilliance Audio edition, released in 2014, adapts Shlain's exploration into an accessible spoken-word format. Critics and readers have noted that the text continues Shlain's legacy of bridging the divide between the humanities and the sciences, a pursuit he popularized in his earlier works like Art & Physics. The design and structure of the argument reflect Shlain's characteristic attempt to democratize complex psychological concepts for a lay audience.
