Los ejercicios espirituales de San Ignacio de Loyola

Los ejercicios espirituales de San Ignacio de Loyola, presented here in a 2003 edition published by Ediciones Mensajero, stands as a foundational text of Ignatian spirituality. Originally composed by Ignatius of Loyola in the early 16th century, the work was designed as a rigorous program of meditations, prayers, and mental exercises intended to guide an individual toward discerning the will of God in their life. This specific volume benefits from the scholarship of Francisco Suárez, whose commentary helps bridge the historical gap between the text's Counter-Reformation origins and the needs of a contemporary audience.

The publication by Ediciones Mensajero, a house with deep ties to the Society of Jesus, reflects a tradition of making Jesuit intellectual and spiritual heritage accessible. By selecting this particular edition, readers engage with a long lineage of editorial efforts aimed at preserving the structural integrity of the original exercises while providing the necessary historical and theological context. It remains a staple in theological collections and a key reference for those interested in the historical development of Jesuit pedagogy and spiritual discipline.
