Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible Volume 4 Isaiah to Malachi

Matthew Henry first published his exhaustive Exposition of the Old and New Testaments in the early 18th century, with the prophetic books spanning Isaiah to Malachi forming a significant portion of his theological legacy. Henry, a nonconformist minister, intended his work to serve as a practical guide for daily devotion rather than a strictly academic critique, prioritizing spiritual application and clarity for the common reader.

The 1985 Fleming H. Revell edition was produced during a period of sustained interest in classic evangelical commentary, repackaging Henry’s foundational text for a modern audience. While the design of this specific volume adheres to the functional, sturdy aesthetic typical of late 20th-century religious publishing, it maintains the integrity of Henry’s original seventeenth-century prose, which has been consistently lauded for its wit, devotional warmth, and enduring influence on sermon preparation.
