Official History of the Tour de France

The Official History of the Tour de France was published to commemorate the enduring legacy of the world's most prestigious cycling competition. Written by Serge Laget, a respected authority on cycling history and a long-time contributor to L'Équipe, the book serves as a comprehensive chronicle of the race from its inception in 1903 through the modern era. It was developed to provide an authoritative narrative of the strategic evolution, technical advancements, and legendary personalities that have defined the yellow jersey race over more than a century.

The design of this edition focuses on archival depth, utilizing photography and detailed stats to anchor the text within its historical context. Laget aimed to synthesize the vast history of the Tour into a cohesive visual and narrative journey, capturing both the grueling physical demands of the terrain and the shifting cultural significance of the event. Upon release, the work was well-received by cycling enthusiasts for its rigor and its accessibility as a definitive reference volume for the history of the sport.
