Our Baby Roland, the Story of Roland's First Year and Fabulous Firsts

Our Baby Roland, the Story of Roland's First Year and Fabulous Firsts was published in 2014 by Emily Canada through CreateSpace, an Amazon-owned self-publishing platform. The book belongs to a genre of personalized or commemorative baby journals designed to help parents document the developmental milestones, emotional experiences, and significant events of a child's first year. These types of books emerged from a long tradition of Victorian-era scrapbooking and the cultural emphasis on capturing the ephemeral growth of infants for future family memory.

Emily Canada’s work reflects the contemporary trend of accessible, independent publishing, where authors create niche, thematic journals tailored to specific names or personal milestones. Designed as a keepsake, the book functions as a structured log for parents to record their child's unique history. Given the nature of self-published print-on-demand titles, the book serves as a localized, individual contribution to the broader category of baby memoir literature, prioritizing personal utility for parents over wide-reaching critical reception.
