Paul-Albert Février, un historien dans l'Algérie en guerre

Published in 2006 by Éditions du Cerf, this volume serves as a posthumous tribute and academic compilation concerning the life and work of Paul-Albert Février, a distinguished historian of late antiquity. Février was deeply shaped by his experiences in Algeria, and the collection documents his intellectual development alongside the backdrop of the Algerian War of Independence, providing a professional portrait of a scholar navigating the complexities of colonial and post-colonial Mediterranean history.

The book functions as both a biography and an anthology of Février's contributions to historical methodology and regional studies. It was curated to preserve his perspective on how historical research interacts with lived political reality, particularly regarding the Roman and Christian history of North Africa. The work is widely regarded by historians for its candid look at the challenges faced by academics working in Algeria during the mid-twentieth century, offering a grounded reflection on the intersection of personal conviction and scholarly discipline.
