Rampage Shootings and Gun Control

Rampage Shootings and Gun Control was authored by Steffen Hurka and published by Routledge, an imprint of Taylor & Francis, in 2017. The work emerged from the academic discourse surrounding legislative responses to high-profile acts of violence, specifically examining how political institutions react to public tragedies. Hurka, an academic specializing in political science and comparative policy, sought to provide a rigorous analysis of the causal mechanisms that link mass shootings to subsequent changes in gun control legislation across various jurisdictions.

The book is characterized by its empirical approach to public policy, relying on comparative data to assess whether the urgency typically associated with such events actually translates into substantive legal reform. Designed for an audience of researchers, students, and policy analysts, the text was received as a methodical contribution to the study of crisis politics. It functions as a structured inquiry into the disconnect often observed between the emotional impact of mass-casualty events and the procedural realities of legislative change.
