Recht und Religion im Rolandslied des Pfaffen Konrad

Published in 1992 by Peter Lang, this scholarly monograph examines the intersection of legal concepts and religious themes within the Rolandslied, a Middle High German adaptation of the Old French Chanson de Roland attributed to Pfaffen Konrad. The work emerged from a period of intense academic focus on the interplay between secular authority and ecclesiastical influence in medieval literature, reflecting a broader effort by Germanist scholars to contextualize Konrad's 12th-century narrative within its contemporary socio-legal framework.

Petra Canisius-Loppnow’s analysis was released as part of the Europäische Hochschulschriften series, a collection known for preserving specialized doctoral and post-doctoral research. By dissecting the legal vocabulary and religious motifs of the Rolandslied, the text seeks to bridge the gap between literary studies and legal history. It remains a technical reference intended primarily for academic libraries and scholars specializing in medieval German philology and the cultural history of the Holy Roman Empire.
