Reinhold Niebuhr revisited

Published in 2009 by Wm. B. Eerdmans, Reinhold Niebuhr Revisited was written by Daniel F. Rice to provide a fresh examination of the influential American theologian's intellectual legacy. At the time of its publication, the work served to bridge the gap between Niebuhr's mid-twentieth-century political realism and contemporary discussions regarding the intersection of faith and public policy. The volume reflects the publisher's long-standing commitment to high-level theological scholarship, positioning Niebuhr’s complex concepts of human nature and justice within the context of the early twenty-first century.

Daniel F. Rice designed the collection as a focused critical inquiry, utilizing contributions from various scholars to re-evaluate Niebuhr's enduring relevance. The book emerged during a period of renewed academic interest in Niebuhr, who had seen his ideas frequently cited by political figures in the years following the 2008 financial crisis and shifting international conflicts. The text is noted for its accessible yet rigorous approach, intended to guide students and academics through the nuances of Niebuhrian thought without stripping away the paradoxical tensions that defined his original writings.
