Reizen door de staaten van Noord-Amerika, en de provintiën van Opper- en Neder-Canada; in de jaaren 1795, 1796 en 1797

Published in the Netherlands in 1801, this Dutch edition translates the travelogues of the Anglo-Irish writer Isaac Weld, who toured North America between 1795 and 1797. The work originated from Weld's desire to document the political and social conditions of the young United States and British Canada, providing a British perspective on a continent undergoing significant transformation in the wake of the American Revolution.

Weld's account is noted for its critical, often cynical observations of American democracy and frontier life, which contrasted with the more romanticized views offered by some contemporary travelers. The design and illustrations accompanying the text served to satisfy a growing European curiosity regarding the geography and native customs of North America, and the work became a standard, if occasionally controversial, reference for readers interested in early Atlantic travel literature.
