Richardi Dinothi Normanni Constantinatis De rebus et factis memorabilibus loci communes historici

Published in Basel in 1580 by Pietro Perna, this work by Richard Dinoth, a Norman historian and scholar, serves as a significant example of 16th-century humanist historical compilation. The text functions as a loci communes, or commonplace book, organizing historical events and anecdotes into thematic categories intended to provide moral and political instruction for readers of the era.

The publication reflects the intellectual climate of Basel, which served as a crucial hub for the European book trade and the dissemination of Protestant-leaning scholarly works. Perna was a well-regarded printer known for producing controversial and academic texts, and his decision to print Dinoth's work highlights the period's rigorous appetite for Latin historiography that sought to bridge classical precedents with contemporary historical records.
