Where it came from
Published in 1991 by Séquence, this monograph serves as an early career retrospective for the Canadian multidisciplinary artist Roberto Pellegrinuzzi. The book captures the formative period of his practice, which is characterized by a deep engagement with photography, installation, and the recontextualization of organic materials. During this time, Pellegrinuzzi was gaining significant attention within the Quebecois contemporary art scene for his ability to transform natural elements into structured, site-specific explorations of human perception.
The publication functions as a critical documentation of his transition from traditional photographic techniques to more experimental, sculptural approaches. Designed to provide insight into his minimalist aesthetic and conceptual framework, the book reflects the influence of land art and formalist traditions prevalent in Canadian galleries during the early nineties. It was produced to archive his early exhibition history and remains a essential resource for understanding the foundational concepts that continue to drive his practice today.
