Routledge Revivals : the Collected Poems of Christopher Smart

The Collected Poems of Christopher Smart, reissued under the Routledge Revivals imprint in 2016, serves as a scholarly restoration of the 18th-century poet's work. Originally compiled to provide a comprehensive look at Smart's unconventional and deeply spiritual verse, this specific edition was brought back into circulation to ensure that his significant, though historically marginalized, contributions to English literature remain accessible to contemporary academic researchers and students.

The design of this Routledge Revival edition adheres to the publisher's standardized academic aesthetic, focusing on durability and textual accuracy rather than stylistic embellishment. By gathering Smart’s complex, visionary poetry into a single, reliable volume, the series aimed to bridge the gap between historical scholarship and modern accessibility, reflecting a growing late-20th and early-21st-century interest in re-evaluating the works of poets who stood outside the mainstream of their time.
