Schilders van een andere werkelijkheid in de collectie van het Scheringa Museum voor Realisme

Published in 2006, this volume serves as a comprehensive catalog for the Scheringa Museum voor Realisme in Spanbroek, the Netherlands. The museum was established by entrepreneur Dirk Scheringa to house his significant collection of magical realist and contemporary figurative art, a movement with deep roots in Dutch artistic tradition. This book was commissioned to document the museum's core mission of preserving and promoting artists who prioritized technical precision and surrealist-inspired imagery.

The publication was curated by Emily Ansenk, who served as a director for the institution during a period when it sought to gain academic recognition for its specialized collection. The book features a selection of works by prominent painters of the Dutch Realist movement, highlighting their meticulous techniques and the thematic focus on uncanny, dreamlike compositions. It was received as a definitive guide to the Scheringa collection, documenting the museum's ambition to define the trajectory of 20th-century figurative painting.
