Şeytan'ın Karısı Jenny Marx

Originally published in French as 'Jenny Marx ou la femme du diable' in 1992, this biographical work by the renowned French journalist and politician Françoise Giroud examines the life of Jenny von Westphalen. Giroud sought to move beyond the traditional portrayal of Jenny Marx as merely a devoted wife and helpmate to Karl Marx, instead highlighting her aristocratic background, her intellectual contributions, and the immense personal and financial hardships she endured while supporting her husband's revolutionary work.

The 2020 edition by Pruva represents the Turkish translation of this empathetic, often poignant study. Giroud, co-founder of the news magazine L'Express, utilized her background in investigative journalism to humanize historical figures, often focusing on the gender dynamics of the nineteenth century. The work was generally well-received for its narrative style, which bridges the gap between historical biography and intimate storytelling, providing a deeper look at a woman whose identity was frequently eclipsed by the legacy of her husband.
