Song Shan Shaolin chan wu yi

Song Shan Shaolin chan wu yi, authored by Zhibin Ruan and published in 2008 by Zhongguo gong ren chu ban she, serves as a comprehensive exploration of the cultural and physical traditions associated with the Shaolin Temple. The work was produced during a period of heightened international interest in Chinese martial arts, aiming to document the synthesis of Chan Buddhism and the unique martial practices—or wushu—that have defined the Shaolin legacy for centuries.

The design and content of the volume reflect a scholarly effort to bridge historical records with practical instructional elements. Zhibin Ruan emphasizes the internal and external disciplines required for Shaolin practitioners, framing the text as both a historical account of the monastery's lineage and a guide to the philosophical foundations that underpin its physical exercises. It is widely regarded as a niche academic reference for those studying the intersection of traditional Chinese spiritual life and combat techniques.
