Arranged and edited by George J. Blzier.

The Cutler collection represents a significant archival effort to preserve the papers of Manasseh Cutler, a pivotal figure in the early development of the Northwest Territory, and his direct descendants. Commissioned by Marietta College in the mid-20th century, the project aimed to centralize, organize, and catalog centuries of family correspondence, journals, and land documents that chronicled the movement of the Cutler family from New England to the Ohio frontier. The collection serves as an primary window into the socio-political development of early Ohio and the legacy of the Ohio Company of Associates.

The 1963 volume was edited by George J. Blazier, a dedicated archivist at Marietta College, with cataloging assistance from Mary Louise Otto. Their objective was to provide a structured, accessible record of these materials for historians and researchers. By grouping the letters and documents of various family members, including Ephraim and William Parker Cutler, the editors provided a cohesive narrative of a family that played a formative role in the establishment of Marietta and the governance of the young American republic.
