The Equine hoof and laminitis

Published in 1998 by the British Equine Veterinary Association, this text emerged during a period of significant clinical advancement in equine podiatry. It was developed to serve as a definitive reference for veterinary surgeons and farriers, aiming to consolidate the prevailing scientific understanding of laminitis—a complex and often debilitating condition affecting the hoof structures of horses. The publication reflects the association's commitment to disseminating specialized medical knowledge to improve the standard of care across the United Kingdom and beyond.

The volume was curated by experts within the British veterinary community, focusing on the anatomical intricacies of the equine foot and the pathological progression of laminitis. Its design prioritizes academic clarity, utilizing anatomical diagrams and clinical research to bridge the gap between theoretical veterinary science and practical stable management. Upon its release, it was received as a essential professional resource, valued for its rigorous approach to a condition that remains one of the most challenging aspects of equine health management.
