The Life and Work of Frederic Thomas Greenhalge, Governor of Massachusetts

The original biography of Frederic Thomas Greenhalge, written by James Ernest Nesmith, was first published in 1897. It serves as a comprehensive account of the life and political career of Greenhalge, who served as the 38th Governor of Massachusetts from 1894 until his death in 1896. Nesmith, a close associate, sought to document Greenhalge's rapid ascent through the Republican party ranks and his efforts during a pivotal era in Massachusetts state politics.

This specific edition is a 2018 reprint issued by Franklin Classics, a publisher known for digitizing and reproducing historical texts that have fallen into the public domain. The design is utilitarian, intended to preserve the archival content of the original 19th-century volume for scholars and genealogical researchers. While the original work was significant for its contemporary eulogistic style and political insight, this modern reproduction serves primarily as an accessible reference for those studying New England gubernatorial history.
