The night chasers

The Night Chasers was published in 1981 by Penguin Publishing Group during a period when the thriller and suspense genres were seeing a significant shift toward more intricate, character-driven narratives. Authored by Jamey Cohen, the novel arrived at a time when publishers were actively seeking out new voices capable of blending traditional mystery elements with the pacing required by a mass-market audience. The book reflects the era's focus on suburban unease and the psychological tension that often defined late-twentieth-century genre fiction.

The design and editorial approach for this title were characteristic of early 1980s Penguin trade releases, which favored clean, minimalist typography and evocative cover art intended to draw in readers browsing bookstore aisles. While the novel did not achieve widespread mainstream literary acclaim, it remains a recognized example of the period's output, serving as a snapshot of the creative efforts to sustain interest in standalone suspense novels before the rise of the modern blockbuster thriller era.
