The wormholers

The Wormholers was published in 1996 by Egmont Books, authored by the acclaimed children's writer Jamila Gavin. Known for her interest in themes of identity, multiculturalism, and time, Gavin crafted this narrative to explore the imaginative boundaries between reality and science fiction. The book emerged during a period of growth for British middle-grade literature, where authors were increasingly blending domestic realism with speculative, fantastical elements to engage young readers.

The design and illustration of the work aimed to capture a sense of wonder, reflecting the genre-bending nature of Gavin’s prose. As a part of Gavin's broader body of work, the book was received as a thoughtful contribution to juvenile fiction, praised for its accessible language and the depth of its character development. It stands as a testament to Gavin's ability to maintain narrative consistency while venturing into imaginative, complex territory that challenges the conventions of the children's adventure novel.
