Theatrum modernum bonis moris exitiosum, populorum insuper politicae felicitati contrarium

Published in 1770 by J. Galeatius, Theatrum modernum bonis moris exitiosum represents a period of intellectual ferment in late 18th-century Europe. Authored by Paolo Rulfo, the work emerged during an era when scholars were increasingly critical of contemporary political structures and societal shifts. It serves as a dense, polemical examination of the intersection between moral philosophy and statecraft, reflecting the anxieties of Enlightenment-era thinkers regarding the perceived decadence of the modern age.

The text is characteristic of the rigorous, often didactic style of mid-to-late 18th-century political treatises. Designed as an academic intervention, Rulfo's work sought to warn against the corruptive influences of new political trends that he believed undermined communal stability. While the volume did not attain the widespread cultural footprint of more popular philosophical works, it remains a notable example of the era's formal, Latin-language discourse on civic virtue and the fragility of political systems.
