Theo van Doesburg (French Edition)

This 1990 volume was published by P. Sers as a comprehensive examination of the life and work of Theo van Doesburg, the Dutch artist, architect, and theorist who co-founded the De Stijl movement. Created during a period of renewed scholarly interest in the avant-garde movements of the early twentieth century, the book serves as a vital reference for understanding the evolution of Neoplasticism and Van Doesburg's pursuit of a universal visual language based on geometric purity and primary colors.

The publication compiles archival documentation and critical analysis to contextualize Van Doesburg’s role as the primary promoter of the De Stijl philosophy across Europe. By detailing his multidisciplinary approach—which bridged painting, furniture design, and architectural theory—the book highlights his intentional departure from representational art. It remains a standard resource for researchers, lauded for its archival rigor and its success in documenting the influential, often combative, intellectual exchanges that defined his career.
