Torres García

Published in 1973 by Ediciones Polígrafa in Barcelona, this monograph serves as a comprehensive study of Joaquín Torres García, the influential Uruguayan constructivist artist. Enric Jardí, a prominent graphic designer and art critic, curated this volume to contextualize Torres García's transition from his early Mediterranean period to the development of his signature universal constructivism. The publication was intended to bring international visibility to the artist's theoretical contributions, which bridged European avant-garde movements with pre-Columbian motifs.

The book’s design reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of the mid-1970s Spanish publishing scene, focusing on clear typography and a balanced arrangement of photographic plates. Jardí’s writing was well-received for its analytical rigor, providing a structured overview of the grid-based compositions that define the artist's legacy. As a foundational text within the Polígrafa series on modern masters, it remains a respected reference for scholars seeking to understand the synthesis of rationalism and symbolism in Torres García's body of work.
